TBR is an economic development and research consultancy with niche skills in the use of economic data to clarify the dynamics of local, regional and national economies, sectors, clusters and markets. Whatever the subject of our research and consultancy work, we focus on ensuring that our clients have the evidence that they require to make informed, confident decisions in appropriate development options, strategies and plans.

We have classified the range of services that we provide into the following five headings - please click the links below to find out more:

- Strategy Development and Appraisal
- Skills Assessment and Workforce Development
- Market and Business Research

There are a number of things that make TBR different from our competitors. We have a unique history and blend of skills and experience in our team, and unique data resources which underpin much of our work. Our strapline sums up our raison d'etre;

Analysis and Insight

We analyse the evidence that we generate and gather; we assimilate, analyse and think about it in order to generate insight.

This means more than simply reporting facts.  We seek to deliver key messages to our clients that further their understanding and provide a platform from which decisions can be taken.  We don't simply want to describe what is happening in a particular market, sector or locality.  We seek to understand why changes are taking place, what is driving them, and what that means for policy makers and strategists.

Three other things that make TBR different;

  • We specialise in the detailed comparative assessment of local and sector economies and markets. We have built the UK's largest longitudinal business dataset (Trends Central Resource) to develop our clients' understanding of economic significance and dynamics.
  • We have been at the forefront of a number of important policy areas, including job generation and components of change analysis, small business and enterprise development, cluster mapping and development, and a number of aspects of the creative and cultural sector.  We have just completed the first UK research exercise to understand the size of the Voluntary Arts Sector, for DCMS and Arts Council England.
  • We offer niche skills in the analysis of the UK business base, as well as experience in economic research, economic development, business support and regeneration.
